Finance Journalist/Presenter

The Role

ausbiz is looking for an experienced Finance Presenter/Journalist to play a key role in the evolution of a startup that sits at the intersection of media, finance and tech.   

Job Description 

You will present a minimum of two hours of live rolling coverage every day with content including markets, company announcements, startup and tech news and information. A versatile and accomplished journalist, you will interview everyone from high-profile CEOs and business luminaries to startup entrepreneurs and investment professionals.

You love the thrill of the chase, and will help set the day’s news agenda. You will also work your contacts to expand and enhance ausbiz coverage. Our presenters will be required to conduct pre-recorded editorially driven interviews, and will contribute to the daily newsletter and podcast. Event hosting and promotional engagements are part of the role.

You’re passionate and knowledgeable about business and finance, and always genuinely curious about the subject matter at hand. You’re able to ad lib at length in a smart and lively manner, and look forward to working in on-air partnerships with our small team of presenters.

Background

Experience in television presenting is highly valued, though candidates with experience in other forms of business and finance reporting will also be considered. People with practical experience in financial markets are also of interest.

Senior Journalist/Producer

The Role

ausbiz is looking for a Senior Producer/Journalist with a passion for business, finance, tech and the startup ecosystem. The ideal ausbiz team member will be thrilled to be part of a new venture, and will actively help develop the operation of the ausbiz newsroom as the business evolves. 

Job Description 

You will work closely with the head of content to guide the production team and manage day-to-day newsroom tasks. You will also work closely with executive producers/presenters to help formulate interesting and informative programming on a daily basis. You will help the producing team deepen their understanding of business, finance & tech. You will be responsible for a block of programming daily, and will be able to execute the technical aspects of the news bulletin and bespoke video production in a state-of-the-art newsroom.

You are comfortable learning and teaching others to operate new systems and technology, and you’re digitally proficient. You possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Background

Television newsroom experience is a must, and you will have past examples to demonstrate leadership capabilities. You have mastered video/news production and basic non-linear video editing skills. You have a demonstrable understanding of the Australian business landscape and macro economic concepts. A tertiary qualification in journalism is required.

Digital Journalist/Producer

The Role

ausbiz is searching for journalists and producers obsessed with business, finance, tech and the startup ecosystem. The ideal ausbiz team member will be thrilled to be part of a new venture, and will actively help develop their role as ausbiz grows.  

Job Description 

You will translate video content from the 8-hour live stream into clever, original digital news, VOD and social media content. The role includes editing, publishing and managing content on the ausbiz app and social media accounts. You will ensure video content is well promoted and displayed across digital and social media platforms. You will be able to apply editorial judgement to headlines, metadata, thumbnails and the categorisation of video content. 

Attributes 

You will be able to easily identify engaging angles that are relevant to our target audiences, and communicate in a strong and consistent voice. You'll be full of creative ideas and digitally agile. Digital producers will sit at the heart of the ausbiz editorial team, and will be keen to have their ideas heard. Digital producers will be ausbiz flag-bearers, and will be encouraged to develop contacts in the industry. You are a self-starter and able to work efficiently. You consume all types of digital and social content on a daily basis. 

Background

Relevant newsroom experience is required, along with experience in non-linear video editing and production systems, and a track record in developing social media engagement. You will have an understanding of digital content delivery and workflows. A tertiary qualification in journalism is preferred - a detailed understanding of journalistic principles is a must.
